WRITING THE SONIC WAVE: Poetry, Storytelling, & Music ~ An evening of creative fusion and community
Description
This event is part of Literary Arts Cover to Cover pop-up series leading up to the Portland Book Festival on November 8th. Come celebrate Portland's literary community with us!
Experience the intersection between music, poetry, and storytelling in this multi-part generative workshop and live performance with leaders in their field. Musician Lewis Childs (Groundswell Studios and the Songwriter Soiree) will accompany creative facilitators, Lisa Kagan (Touchstone Retreats) and Brian Rohr (The Stafford Challenge), for an experimental and immersive evening.
During the first part of the evening, you will have a chance to write poems inspired by a variety of musical prompts performed live by a master songwriter. Together, as writers, we will go on a sonic journey, using unique styles and tones as inspiration to support our creative musings. The second portion of the evening will feature a performance of original music by Lewis Childs and poems/stories performed by Brian Rohr, along with special guests.
This event offers you the chance to kindle your creative spark, learn new ways to deepen and expand your writing practice, and connect more with creative community.
All are welcome, no previous writing experience necessary.
