Daniel Weltlinger

Of French-Hungarian heritage, Sydney-born and Berlin-based violinist and composer Daniel Weltlinger has been long celebrated internationally for his distinctive sound and improvisational flair across Gypsy-swing, jazz, klezmer, and experimental/free-improvised music. He performs and records widely as a soloist alongside some of the world's leading musicians in a broad range of settings, and is sought after for his technical mastery and musical depth.

James D'Arcy

James D'Arcy has been a dedicated musician for over 40 years. Awarded a scholarship to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music at an early age, he went on to write and stage his first musical, Alice, during his undergraduate years, and served as principal clarinettist with the Australian Youth Orchestra before completing his performance degree at the Canberra School of Music.

In the late 1980s and early '90s, James worked as a film and TV post-production sound engineer, collaborating with many of Australia's leading directors and producers of the era. When the Australian film industry contracted in the 1990s, he found an unexpected second career in software engineering. Over the following 25 years, while raising two daughters, he never stopped developing musically. He completed postgraduate studies in composition, served as musical director for numerous musical theatre productions, played clarinet with the Aeon Ensemble, and was principal clarinettist of the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He also wrote and recorded his own theatre songs, and orchestrated and conducted various ensembles.

In early 2020, James sold the software company he had founded and returned to composing full time.

Barry Den

As Bega's longest-standing if not most famous fly-in-fly-out medico, Barry Den is now practically considered a local. In his younger days he completed his A Mus A in piano before undertaking advanced piano studies at the NSW Conservatorium under Nancy Salas and Greville Rothon, and performed Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the combined High School Orchestra while at university. He has composed and arranged for Med and Hospital Revues, and has performed at various accompanying and chamber music events in Sydney. He is a founder, together with Daniel Weltlinger, of the Wunulla Trio, and continues his piano studies today under Dr Bernadette Harvey.
