Description

Come explore the weird and wild world of insects and other invertebrates on this ecologist-led evening walk in the wetlands of South-east Queensland!

These walks are short in distance, often only 200m to 500m long, where we “get out eye in” and learn to see the many and varied life-forms sustained by different ecosystems. Together, we’ll learn about how these often-underappreciated creatures interact with and shape the world around us. This event uses specialised lights to draw in insects for us to appreciate and observe. It really is a magical experience and no two events are the same!

We will send you the exact location 24 hours prior to the walk, so please keep an eye on your emails. Public toilet facilities are not accessible at this location. It is somewhat accessible by public transport, though personal transportation is recommended (and carpooling is strongly encouraged!).

The tour lasts for approximately two and a half hours on designated paths. The paths are wheelchair and pram accessible.

Please come dressed in appropriate long-sleeved clothing with closed toe shoes. Please also bring a torch or head torch (red light is preferable, but not required).

If you wish to apply repellents, please do so before your arrival as these can harm the life-forms we wish to learn about.

This tour is suited for all ages, but under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Photography is encouraged. There is a strict no collection policy.

We believe access to nature shouldn't come down to what's in your wallet. That's why Walking with Life runs on a pay-from-the-heart pricing model: choose the amount that feels right for you.

  • $50 covers our running costs and keeps these walks sustainable — this is our suggested price if you're able to pay it.

  • $100+ helps us go further: reaching more communities and people who might not otherwise get the chance to experience this.

  • $25 for children aged 6 and up, because curiosity about the small world shouldn't wait until adulthood. Children under 6 are free.

Whatever you're able to give, you're welcome here.
