Professor Kok-Leong (KL) Ong - Director of CoBL Technology Initiatives
Professor Kok-Leong (KL) Ong is currently the Director of Technology Initiatives at RMIT’s College of Business & Law. He has a background in AI and Data Analytics, where his research focused on the translation of AI and analytics into practice applications across business sectors. In his current role, Professor Ong is in charge of bringing together the 16 business capabilities in the College of business and law to help local enterprises overcome their day-to-day challenges through workforce development, research and engagements.
Dr Chao Chen - Director of Enterprise AI and Data Analytics Hub
Dr Chao Chen is the Director of the Enterprise AI and Data Analytics Hub at RMIT University. He has many years of experience applying advanced analytics and AI models to real-world industry challenges. He holds a PhD in IT from Deakin University and has worked as a Data Scientist at Telstra extracting insights to drive business outcomes. His research sits at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, addressing AI-drive security challenges. Dr Chen published over 70 papers and have secured over $4m in research funding in delivering innovative solutions in AI and data analytics.
Su Nguyen - Deputy Director of RMIT Enterprise AI and Data Analytics Hub
Su Nguyen is a Senior Lecturer (AI and Analytics) at RMIT University, Australia. He received his Ph.D. degree in Artificial Intelligence and Operations Research from Victoria University of Wellington (VUW), Wellington, New Zealand, in 2013. His expertise includes simulation-optimization, evolutionary computation, automated algorithm design, interfaces of artificial intelligence and operations research, and their applications in logistics, energy, and transportation. Nguyen has a strong track record in developing simulation models, simulation-based decision support tools, and simulation-optimisation algorithms for industry applications. He has 100+ publications in top peer-reviewed journals and conferences in computational intelligence and operations research.
Jason Pallant - Senior Lecturer of Marketing Technologies
Dr Jason Pallant is a Senior Lecturer of Marketing Technologies, specialising in the impact of emerging technologies including AI on customer experience. He is currently leading the development of new programs and research studies on Marketing Technologies including the impact of AI across marketing and business. Jason has authored over 20 peer-reviewed academic studies in leading journals on critical topics including AI and technology adoption, omnichannel retail, augmented reality, showrooming, and data privacy, and has successfully led over 30 industry-funded academic projects totally over $3 million in external funding. Jason regularly shares his research with public audiences as a keynote speaker and media commentator, featured author for Inside Retail, and judge for retail industry awards hosted by Inside Retail and the National Retail Association. Since 2023, Jason has been named on Retail’s annual Top Retail Expert list globally– the only Australian academic to be included. Prior to joining RMIT, Jason was the Director of Knowledge Enablement at The Lumery (now part of Accenture Song), where he led the development of a learning platform for corporate clients to upskill staff on marketing technologies.
Robert Shen - Director, RACE (AWS Cloud Supercomputing Hub)
Robert Shen is a research professional with over 15 years’ experience in higher education, data and astronomy industries. He received his PhD from the School of Information Technology, University of Sydney in 2006. Robert has been working as Director of RMIT AWS Cloud Supercomputing Hub since January 2022.
Say Yen Teoh - Senior Lecturer of Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics
Dr Say Yen Teoh is a Senior Lecturer and Information Systems researcher at RMIT University, specialising in how businesses use Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies to drive sustainable, real-world outcomes. With expertise spanning digital transformation, blockchain, health systems, and ESG innovation, she bridges business needs with technological capabilities. Alongside her academic work, she has gained over a decade of practical experience supporting the operations of several Melbourne-based businesses, bringing a grounded, entrepreneurial lens to her research. Most recently, she designed an AI solution to streamline ESG reporting compliance, making regulatory processes smarter and more efficient. Dr Teoh holds a PhD from the National University of Singapore and collaborates internationally across Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and the USA.
Neo Xu - Researcher at AIDA hub and Senior Consultant at Red Hat
Neo Xu is a researcher at Enterprise AI and Data Analytics Research Hub, and a Senior Consultant at Red Hat, specialising in AI/ML systems architecture with a deep focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), cloud-native deployments, and enterprise-grade AI solutions. With over 13 years of hands-on experience in the IT industry, he has architected and deployed scalable LLM platforms, and built AI agents, chatbots, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems tailored for real-world business applications.
