Event description

Join us for a staged reading of Xavier and Beatrice, a new play by Dr Melanie Myers developed through the UQ Creative Writing Fellowship under the mentorship of dramaturg Saffron Benner. Based on the complex and little-known relationship between author Xavier Herbert (Capricornia, Poor Fellow My Country) and his editor Beatrice Davis, this powerful new work draws from archival letters and literary history to explore creativity, ego, and editorial influence in postwar Australia. This project is supported by the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund.
