Event description

We're out the back. We're all here. It's nearly Christmas. We just finished work. Yesterday. Might be heading home for the summer. Not yet though. Mum and dad are coming too...

Join us as Lois Lane, Melbourne’s official self-appointed #1 Dance Rock band, playing your favourite rock covers, share the stage with alternative rock outfit from Melbourne's north Dennis.

Lois Lane are the remnants of a suburban teenage garage band from the 70s, now dispirited shadows of people who are only revived when on stage behind their new lead singer Gaz. Playing Bowie, the Beatles, INXS, the Hoodoo Gurus and more from our shared youth, it's music that has brought them back together after a life spent working, raising a family, living the dream - not knowing that something was missing until they picked up their instruments again four years ago.

Dennis' songwriting is inspired, with members plucked from different projects all around Melbourne. Starting out as guitarist and songwriter from Melbourne perennial indie-rockers "Good Grief", band leader Sam Reeves approaches the Dennis project with a seasoned and reflective songwriting that takes influence from Reading-born band slowdive and Cambridge baroque rockers Black Country, New Road, but is grounded in a youth spent listening to Nick Cave, Radiohead, Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. Sam joins three of the broken-up but not broken-down members of the not-failed but never-got-going project "The Kuek Family Reunion", in vocalist and guitarist Zac Haussegger, percussionist Dan Vaughan and bassist/vocalist Daniel McArthur (band leader of "Pigeon", coming off the back of sold out shows at the GEM in Collingwood and the Retreat on Sydney Rd). From there the band grew, to incorporate Williamston-based flautist, keyboardist and vocalist Ingrid Freeman from "Visitors"/"Pigeon" and saxophonist Sapphire Watkinson from "NoLess", bringing the sound they didn't know they had been missing.

Saturay 21st of December. Outside. In the sun.
