Sat, 12 Dec, 12pm - 2pm AEDT

Description

Have a break from the Christmas rush and take a seat at the craft table. Join local artist Ali Clinch for an intergenerational creative workshop where you and your young people design and paint your own wrapping paper, inspired by the landscapes, landmarks and colours of the Canberra region.

Using recycled materials and acrylic paints, participants will create unique gift wrap that reflects Canberra. Swap snowflakes for eucalyptus leaves, trade the Empire State Building for familiar Canberra landmarks, and traditional festive colours for the blues, greens and yellows of Canberra's landscape.

Drawing inspiration from the exhibition Greetings from Canberra: Wish You Were Here, this hands-on workshop invites families to explore creativity, storytelling and local identity through art. All materials and instruction are provided, and no previous experience is required.

Designed for creatives of all ages, younger participants will need support from their accompanying adult.

What's included

  • All craft, paint and paper supplies

  • 60 minutes of guided instruction

  • 60 minutes of creative making time

  • Your own hand-painted wrapping paper to take home

Good to know

  • This is not a drop-off program. Adults must remain with and participate alongside their young person.

  • Please wear clothes suitable for artmaking, as paints may stain.
