YACWA Young Changemaker Workshop Mundaring
Event description
“Be the change you want to see in the world”.
The Shire of Mundaring is developing a new Youth Informing Strategy. The aim of this Strategy is to better understand what is important to young people and identify what we need to do to make your community the best places possible over the next few years. Part of that involves meeting with young people in the Shire, and helping them to become sustainable advocates for change after the Strategy has been written.
We are thrilled to be hosting a Young Changemaker Workshop to empower young people in the Shire of Mundaring to take the first steps to becoming changemakers and advocates in your community.
This is for any young person aged 12 to 25 who lives, works, studies, volunteers or spends time in the Shire of Mundaring.
About the workshop
Hosted by the Youth Affairs Council of WA, in this workshop you will:
- Work through some challenges facing young people in the Shire that have been identified through the consultations
- Learn about the different levels of advocacy, including real world examples
- Explore the four roles in advocacy, and discover which role you resonate with
- Work through the barriers to change, and brainstorm ways to overcome them
- Craft your own mock advocacy campaign with a group
- Learn about the strategies to get your advocacy campaign off the ground
- Brainstorm your next steps for after the workshop
