Frogging along the Yarra

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join Melbourne Water’s Waterwatch team and Banyule City Council to explore the frogs that inhabit the Banyule flats along the Yarra River. Hear from Danielle Wallace PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne as she shares findings from her study of the breeding behavior of tree frog species and the spread of the disease caused by Chytrid Fungus.

You can learn about the Frog Census Program and how you can get involved. Frog Census provides vital data on important frog species that live in Melbourne. We will also run a short tutorial on making observations using the iNaturalist App.

During the evening we will take part in The City Nature Challenge which runs Friday 26 April to Monday 29 April, by capturing our wildlife observations using the iNaturalist App.

We would encourage you to download the Frog Census App and iNaturalist on your smartphone or tablet and come prepared to explore!

We will lead a guided walk to search for frogs around two of Banyule’s favourite amphibian hot-spots at Banyule Flats.

  • A head torch or handheld torch to help you navigate on our adventure.
