This year at St Mark’s we have launched our Future Ready courses, designed to carve out time for students to engage in relevant, authentic learning opportunities that prepare them with the interrelated skills and capabilities for future success in an uncertain and shifting world. In Year 10 these courses are Enrich and Challenge.

In the Year 10 Challenge course, Term 1 saw students learning about personal branding, their digital footprint, and preparing a video resume. During Term 2 they are learning about driver safety, buying a car, and car maintenance. In Term 4, students will learn about managing personal finances.

In Term 3, Year 10 students can choose one of the following two options for their Challenge program:

‘Provide First Aid’ certification via online theory modules followed by practical assessment with a trained instructor. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain first aid certification, in time for their experience of Year 10 Outdoor Adventure Studies camp in Term 4. Cost: $110.
‘Start Your Side Hustle’ course. Students will challenge themselves to understand an innovator’s mindset, identify a problem as an opportunity, ideate an entrepreneurial solution, and build a plan for their own viable ‘side hustle’. Cost: Free.
