    Event description

Wesley College invites all Year 12 students to the annual Green and Black Ball.

This event is a rite of passage and an integral part of a Wesley education.  More importantly, the Year 12 Ball is an inclusive event where all students, their partners and staff can come together to celebrate the green and the black and the gold, in a spirit of fun and friendship.

    Date:                    Thursday 15 August 2024, 7.00 – 11.00pm

Venue:                  Optus Stadium, Victoria Park Drive, Burswood WA

    Theme:                 "The Great Gatsby"

Dress:                    Formal, black tie (suit and tie)

Please see below the two-step process for purchasing your tickets and providing information and approval for your son to attend this year’s Green and Black Ball.

    Step one:

Edsmart permission section.  On this form you will be asked to list 4 friends that you wish to sit with on your table.  This will greatly assist the Student Ball Committee with seating allocations, and whilst there is no guarantee of preferred seating, we will do our best to accommodate requests.  The College reserves the right to vet partners based on suitability for the intent of the evening.

You will also be asked to provide dietary requirements for your son and his partner including any food allergies and/or special dietary requirements.

    Step two:

Tickets: Tickets are $145.00 per person ($290.00 per double) and can purchased via our ticketing system, Humanitix.

RSVP by Friday 2 August, 5.00pm.  Both payment through Humanitix and Permission and details through the Edsmart Form need to be completed by this date.

As this is a formal event, the Ball provides an opportunity for students to learn some transferrable lessons about social etiquette.  Therefore, students are strongly encouraged to invite and host a partner.

The evening will include a buffet dinner, unlimited soft drinks, gelato cart, a DJ and photographs (which can be downloaded after the event free of charge).

    About ‘afters’

The safety and welfare of our students and their partners is always our priority.  The College does not in any way sanction, condone or endorse any form of large ‘afters’ parties, that often have the effect of overshadowing the main event.

We have no problem with small groups of friends (approximately 20 people) gathering to ‘debrief’ the Ball at a family home, in a safe and supervised manner.  However, large scale parties are selective, exclusive and risk segregating the cohort.  This in no way represents our values as a College.

The College’s duty of care goes well beyond the end of the school day and indeed the school gates.  This is a huge strength of our College and a responsibility that we do not take lightly.  We strongly urge parents to support the College in helping students and their partners to make appropriate decisions to ensure that this evening is what it is intended to be.  Coming together and celebrating is the focus of the Ball and we look forward to a memorable evening.  If you have any questions regarding the ball please contact Mr Thomas.
