Event description

Pembroke School invites Year 7 2026 parents and students to attend a presentation by Ms Susan McLean, Australia’s foremost expert in cyber safety. As students transition to high school, their access to online platforms and digital devices typically increases, making this an important opportunity to learn how to support young people in navigating the online environment safely and responsibly.

Ms McLean served with Victoria Police for 27 years and was the first officer appointed to a position specialising in cyber safety for young people. She received her first report of cyberbullying in 1994 and has since undertaken extensive research, completing advanced training and tertiary studies in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Ms McLean is now a highly regarded presenter and advisor to schools, elite sporting organisations, medical professionals, and both State and Federal Governments.

When:             Monday 18 November
Time:              6:00pm – 7:30pm

Delivered in Ms McLean’s renowned ‘no-nonsense’ style, the presentation will explore both the opportunities and challenges associated with technology and will address key topics including:

  • What kids are doing online

  • Online grooming

  • Cyberbullying

  • Sharing nudes and AI-generated nudes

  • Sextortion

  • Problematic gaming

  • Exposure to harmful content

  • Practical strategies to help children stay safe online

I warmly invite you to join me, together with Ms Rebecca Forrest, Dean of Student Wellbeing (ELC–12), for what promises to be an engaging and highly informative evening.

We look forward to seeing you there!
