Event description

About the summit

The Youth Educating Peers (YEP) Project, as part of the Youth Affairs Council of WA is a peer based sexual health and blood borne virus (SHBBV) project. YEP aims to support and educate young people on relationships, sexuality and SHBBV issues. We do this by working in partnership with the WA youth sector and building the capacity of youth workers.

In 2017, the YEP Project held their first sector summit on youth sexual health. This was attended by over 100 people from the WA youth sector. The YEP Project is now organising our third sector summit. The themes of this summit are based on educational needs as identified in YEP’s annual youth and youth sector surveys in 2020: Healthy relationships for young people and sexual health needs of subpopulations: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, LGBTIQA+ young people, culturally and linguistically diverse young people (CaLD) and young people living with disabilities.

The aim of the summit is to upskill the youth sector on best practice models so that they can better support the sexual health and relationships needs of their clients.

The YEP Project works with a sex positive and harm-minimisation approach.
