Join Dr Vickie & Michelle Freeman for an morning of pure bliss and relaxation.

During this 2.5 hour session, we merge Yin Yoga with Acupuncture to gently restore vital energy to the body and mind. You will leave this session feeling renewed and relaxed.

Both yin yoga and acupuncture are based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine which work with the meridians of the body to establish a heightened flow of energy and deeply relaxed state. In this session, we will focus on the shifting of seasons into Winter, a time to go inwards and renew our vital energy reserves, and explore the meridians of the bladder and kidneys.

As we shift into Winter, it's the perfect time to do something for yourself to slow down and invest in your wellbeing. Both yoga and acupuncture can help. In traditional Chinese Medicine, Winter is associated with the element of water. This element reminds us to invite in fluidity and adaptability, whilst releasing fears that may hold us back.

We will begin with an introduction to the basic principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Yin Yoga. This introduction will be followed by yin yoga with Michelle where your body will be gently supported by props to find the best posture for your body. The poses will be held for up to 5 minutes and each pose is designed to gently open your meridians prior to receiving the acupuncture. This prepares your body to reach a deeper state of relaxation and benefit.

Our yin yoga practice will close with savasana where your body will be supported by blankets and bolsters for optimum comfort. Dr Vickie will offer acupuncture to specific points to stimulate the meridians of your body. Expect to drop deeply into a blissful state as you let go and unwind.

Our session will close a gentle sound healing provided by harpist, Claire Evelynn, followed by refreshments to ground.

About the Facilitators:

Michelle Freeman

Michelle has been teaching yoga, meditation and healing modalities for over 13 years and is the owner of the Nambour Yoga Centre. Her teaching is compassionate and knowledgeable, with an experiential understanding of the body after practicing yoga for over 25 years and having studied and practiced Zen Thai Shiatsu bodywork. She is currently studying Yoga Therapy to deepen this understanding of the body and biomechanics from a therapeutic side and makes regular trips to India to study Ashtanga yoga and philosophy with her teacher, Dr.Vidwan Vijaya Kumar.

Dr Vickie

Vicki has 15 years experience practising in the field of holistic health. She is a registered Chinese Medicine Doctor and Herbalist, with a passion for women’s health and mental health. She has travelled and trained with healers and herbalists in China and the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest. She is a qualified Remedial Massage therapist and supports clients in many aspects of their health including pain management, women’s health, digestive health and emotional and spiritual support.
