Youth Mental Health First Aid
Event description
Become a Mental Health First Aider to support young people aged 12 to 18.
We believe that the more people that are trained in Mental Health First Aid, the stronger and safer our community will be.
MONDAY 14TH and MONDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER, 2020
LEARN PRACTICAL MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID SKILLS
- Recognise common mental health problems in young people
- Provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan
- Seek appropriate professional help, and
- Respond in a crisis situation
This accredited 2 day program (14 hours total) is designed for those who work or support young people. This is particularly useful for people interested in social work, youth work or community development work where young people are involved. A certificate can only be issued if BOTH days are fully attended.
As the funding for this program is specifically for young people, we are prioritising registrations with the following criteria:
- Aged 18 - 25 years old
- Living or studying in the Barossa, Light Regional or Gawler Council regions
A subsidised pricing for those in our target demographic is $20 for the course.
Others may apply to participate in the program for the cost of $80 (usually $190 for the 2 day course). Please note, a waiting list will be created for those not in the target demographic to ensure priority is given to young people wishing to attend.
Facilitator is Vanessa Wood, an experienced youth worker and accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainer.
Morning Tea and Lunch supplied.
