The word asana literally means posture. Out of the innumerable asanas a body can assume, 84 have been identified as Yogasanas, through which one can transform the body and mind into a possibility for ultimate well-being. Yogasanas are not exercises, but rather very subtle processes to manipulate one’s energy in a particular direction.
In an untrained state, the human body is a constant manifestation of various levels of compulsiveness. By consciously forming the body into a certain posture, one creates a conducive passage for energy flow that can elevate one’s consciousness.
Yogasanas are a way of aligning the inner system and adjusting it to the celestial geometry, thereby becoming in sync with the existence and naturally achieving a chemistry of healthfulness, joyfulness, blissfulness, and above all, balance.

Class Guidelines
Arrive 10-30 minutes before the class starts. For your safety, you may not be able to join a session once it commences.
Observe silence when you come into the studio and until the class begins. It is a time to move out of your world of thoughts and come into the present moment and connect with yourself.
If you need support for your ankles or head or anything else, please bring a large towel or blanket with you.
Be mindful of the effect of strong perfumes on your fellow students.
Remove watches and noisy jewelry.
Leave handbags and personal belongings that are not required during the class at the back of the class or in your car.
If you have any injuries or are pregnant, please inform the teacher before the class begins. Many injuries can be accommodated if the teacher is aware of them.
If you are ill, have a cold or fever, please contact the teacher and your doctor before attending the class.
FAQs
- Why is it spread across multiple days? Can I just attend one?
Yogasanas are taught as a complete process. The sessions build on each other, so you leave with the full practice. All sessions are compulsory - please only book if you can commit to all days.
- Why does it cost so much?
A drop-in yoga class typically costs $20 to 30 per session. Yogasanas is 10+ hours of teaching, personal corrections, and lifetime support - a practice you carry for life. Your contribution also helps sustain our volunteer-run, non-profit Centre and keeps it accessible to all.
- Will I be able to do the practice on my own afterwards?
Yes - that's the whole purpose. By the end of the program, you'll have everything you need to practice independently at home for life. No further sessions, subscriptions, or upsells. Lifetime email and WhatsApp support is included.
- I have a minor injury or health concern. Can I still join?
Often yes - many conditions can be accommodated when the teacher knows in advance. Please reach out to us before booking so we can guide you. When in doubt, also check with your doctor.
- I'm older. Is there an age limit?
The practice is open to anyone aged 14 and above, with no upper age limit. People in their 60s, 70s, and beyond practice Yogasanas regularly. As long as you have no listed medical conditions, age is not a barrier.
- What if I arrive late?
Doors open 30 minutes before the session starts and close 10 minutes before. For safety and group integrity, late arrivals cannot be admitted. Please plan to arrive 10–30 minutes early so you can settle in calmly.
- I'm anxious about group settings. What's the environment like?
The Centre is a warm, quiet, welcoming space. No pressure to talk, perform, or share. We observe silence as people enter so everyone can settle in. The group is small and gentle — most first-timers feel at ease within minutes.
- What should I wear and bring?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing you can move and sit in easily. Bring a yoga mat, and optionally a large towel or blanket for warmth and a cushion to sit on. Leave watches, noisy jewellery, and strong perfumes at home.
- Why do I have to fast before class?
The practice works on your inner energy system, and an empty stomach allows the body to engage properly. No food 4 hours before (2.5 hours for a light snack), and no drinks 90 minutes before or during class. Water is fine.
- Are there any health conditions that would stop me from joining?
The practice isn't suitable if you're pregnant, had major surgery in the last 6 months, laparoscopic surgery in the last 6 weeks, have a serious back condition, artificial joints, or an active hernia. For anything else, please contact us first.
- I still have questions. Who can I talk to?
We'd love to hear from you. If anything is unclear, or you want to check whether the practice is right for you, please reach out on WhatsApp +64220911566. The teacher is happy to answer any questions before you register.
