Event description

SOBA Studio,Upper 359 Montague Road, West End (above Whole Life Pharmacy)
All bodies/identities are welcome
To Slow Down is To Wake Up.
Janita (Whole Hearted Harpist), Ogden (Harp) and Lori (Yoga Teacher) will hold space for deep rest. For slowing down, for waking up.
We will begin with pranayama and gentle movement to support the mind-body into stillness.
We will then explore several long-held, floor-based, passive postures - props fill the spaces between the curves of our bodies. With a full sense of stable support in non-doing, we start to open to the vibrant conversation of life within and out.
Live harp will act as a meditative anchor to the present moment. An invitation to receive sound as healing.
This is a practice of being alive.
Of opening to all that is and of non-doing.
Of witnessing and tending to marks that stress & life leave on the mind-body-heart.
This is an invitation of cellular level remembrance on what ease and rest can feel like. Of slowing down. Of waking up.
We look forward to sharing this moment with you
With warmth,
Janita and Lori
**** Difficult underlying emotions and physical sensations can give rise during practices of stillness. This is part of the practice of opening to all that resides within and out. We open to suffering to support it's existence. This experience may feel confronting for some who have good reasons for seeking movement when distress arises. Space will be held and permission is given for you to participate in whatever ways you may need to feel safe with all that arises.
What to bring:
Blankets and all props are provided but do bring a pair of socks to keep your feet toasty! Please also bring a jumper - body temperature fluctuates in practices of deep relaxation and stillness. It is important for the body to remain warm.
If you have an eye-pillow, do bring this along if you wish. Darkness is a friend to the nervous system.
Transport:
Please try arrive at least 10mins before our starting time. This will support your safe arrival into the mind-body.
Bus: Montague Road near Victoria Street, stop 10
Car: Free ninety minute basement car parking available in the building
