Join Detour for a social bike ride and Vinyasa Yoga practice!

Our events aim to bring people together to be active, mindful, and connected to the outdoors.

We will meet by PATH (Portobello Active Travel Hub, on Porty Promenade, end of Pipe Lane) at 10am.

We’ll ride around 12 miles to Longniddry, with plenty of stops to chat, hydrate and enjoy the scenery. The route is mostly made up of cycleways, gavel/forest paths and quiet roads, suitable for most bikes. We vary the route slightly each time to showcase hidden local paths and views.

Around 12:15 we will arrive in Longniddry and take a break. You are welcome to relax and make a cup of tea at Fern Bothy, or explore the local shops and cafes at Longniddry Steading.

Jorja will then lead a 1 hour Vinyasa Yoga class, 1-2pm. Class will begin with grounding, breathwork and gentle mobilisation, before building into more dynamic flows. The practice will gradually wind down through calming postures and savasana.

You are welcome to peel off after class, or ride back to Edinburgh together! There is a train station close by if you'd like to travel back by train.

What to bring:

A helmet
A lock for your bike
Warm layers and waterproofs (just in case!)
A bottle of water
Plenty of snacks (or even some lunch)

Please make sure your bike is serviced and in full working order. The route will be guided, but you are responsible for your own bike safety.

Yoga mats and props will be provided at the venue. Make sure to wear clothing you are comfortable to move in. Please note that the venue can only be accessed via stairs, therefore is unfortunately not accessible.

If you'd like to attend but don't own a bike, we recommend Porty Community Energy's free/donation based bike library hires, available from the start point of our route. (Book in advance through Porty Energy).

The session will be led by Jorja Follina, a Dance Artist and Movement Teacher who completed her 200 hour Astanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at Sampoorna Yoga India. Jorja has attended Cycling Scotland's Ride Leader Training, and has been teaching a range of movement disciplines for the past ten years.
