Yoga for BIWOC
Event description
AMANI YOGA: for BIWOC
Slow down in this 90 minute class designed to carve out time for
rest. We will begin with gentle movement to prepare the body for
restorative/yin poses
that will encourage your nervous system to dip into its parasympathetic
state, cultivating the opposite of stress.
The name AMANI YOGA means peace in Swahili & best wishes in Arabic.
AMANI YOGA came out of a desire to create a culturally
inclusive yoga space for BIWOC to feel safe and have a sense of
belonging and experience how yoga can contribute to racial stress healing and
well-being.
This offering includes
- A somatic yoga practice- providing deep rest, which you can take away and practice daily (all postures are accessible to all bodies and all levels of experience, especially beginners)
- An exploration of how racial stress impacts our body’s nervous system and how yoga can relax the nervous system in a safe nurturing setting
Entry to the studio is in the back. Pls park anywhere front or back ( near the bridal shop) and come through the black gate next to the laundromat, and walk to the back - you will see our secret little entry :
AMANI YOGA is intended for self-identified black woman, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman and women of colour.
