Join Maria and Haweya

Slow down in this class designed to carve out time for
rest. We will begin with gentle movement to prepare the body for
restorative poses that will encourage your nervous system to dip into
its parasympathetic state, cultivating the opposite of stress.

Through the power of yoga, mindfulness, and storytelling, we will reconnect with our inner self, experience deep rejuvenation, and foster meaningful connection with other woman in a safe space.

The name AMANI YOGA means peace in Swahili & best wishes in Arabic

Reflections - 2024

" I love this yoga practice and the focus of calming the nervous system. Maria's instruction is wonderful. She creates a safe space for WOC to feel seen, calm and at peace"

AMANI YOGA came out of a desire to create an culturally inclusive yoga space for BIWOC to feel safe and have a sense of belonging and experience how yoga can contribute to racial stress healing and well-being.

This offering includes

  • A restorative yoga practice- providing deep rest, a practice which you can take away and practice daily (all postures are accessible to all bodies and all levels of experience, especially beginners)
  • An exploration of how racial stress impacts our body’s nervous system and how yoga can relax the nervous system in a safe nurturing setting.
  • Please Note
  • AMANI Yoga is intended for self-identified black woman, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman and women of colour. Thank you for honouring this intention.
  • No previous yoga experience is required – Yoga is for EVERYBODY.
  • Wear loose comfortable clothes.
  • Please bring a water bottle, towel or sarong to cover the bolsters.
  • Yoga equipment such as mats etc are provided but you are welcome to bring your own.

Thank you and we look forward to sharing this beautiful time together

spirit and heart'
