Yoga Nidra with Jess
Event description
Process over outcome, rest as a revolutionary act
Yoga Nidra is an ancient yogic practice of ‘conscious sleep’ where the body is guided into a state of deep relaxation and the mind becomes quiet while remaining focused and aware. Please join me for an hour of restorative integration where peace and pleasure become your reality. Nidra is a guided experience supportive of awakening and enhancing your natural and intuitive ability to heal and be still.
My intention is for this to be an accessible, intimate and authentic experience of deep rest in a safe, inclusive and beautiful space. Opportunities to slow down and rest are rare in life and this is an opportunity to gift yourself the time to be as you are and dwell in wholeness.
Cost is $40 per mat with everything you need provided… blankets, bolsters, mats, refreshments, a magical space etc and includes a special little gift of love and gratitude from me :)
With love,
Jessica
Frequently asked questions
What IS Yoga Nidra?
Yoga nidra is typically performed lying down on your back. This facilitates a deep state of relaxation while maintaining awareness, and makes it highly accessible for all.
How is it different to meditation?
The guided nature of yoga nidra, with a voice leading you through relaxation and into the subconscious, contrasts with meditation’s emphasis on self-guided focus, whether on breath, a mantra, or silent observation.
Meditation often involves sitting upright or various yoga poses, which promotes alertness, endurance and concentration.
What does the session involve?
The session will run for 45 minutes and will encompass a guided progressive relaxation, a bespoke guided visualization and a sound bath, concluding with ancient mantras to balance and refresh. Afterward, will be a short time for tea, gentle conversation & quiet reflection.
I’ve never done yoga before. Will I be able to understand and enjoy it?
The session will take place entirely lying down with no active yoga postures involved. All abilities and levels of experience are welcome. Nidra is an entirely receptive experience and all that is needed to benefit is a willingness to come with an open mind and heart and a spirit of allowance and trust.
What should I wear/ bring?
Please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing that you feel at ease and comfortably warm resting in. Feel free to bring a water bottle but everything else you need to feel comfy will be provided.
What are the effects of Yoga Nidra on the mind and body?
Yoga nidra calms the sympathetic nervous system and allows the parasympathetic nervous system to take charge. This means that your of ability to be present and to respond, rather than react, even under pressure, is increased. Nidra supports physical, mental and emotional calm and equanimity, reducing stress, anxiety, depression and lack of concentration. The practice naturally restores the body's vital energy and innate connection to environment and inner self. Happiness, great sleep and increased energy and inspiration are side effects.
