You are not your thoughts – an invitation.

I am not my thoughts. This was one of the most liberating discoveries of my life – I’ve found myself laughing with tears rolling down my face at the realisation.

I invite you to take a look.

Can you predict your next thought?
Do you decide what thoughts you have?
If you could, would you choose the ones you have?
Can thoughts think or make decisions?
Is ‘I’ also a thought?

This was a BIG thing for me … because if I’m not my thoughts, and I’m not making decisions, then who or what is?

I found myself moving to the kitchen one day and noticed the thoughts “I’m so stressed, I’m so busy” … I stopped. I recognised they are just thoughts and asked myself, “Without this thought, where is the stress? Where is the busyness?”

I can’t find it.

And the laughter broke.
