Young Detectives - January School Holiday Workshop (Ages 8-12)
Event description
Are you a fan of detective tales? Step into the captivating realm of forensic science and uncover the techniques experts employ to analyse evidence and crack cases. What tools are integral to their investigations? Participants will put their skills to the test by examining their own fingerprints, deducing age and height from hand x-rays and footprints, and exploring the distinctions between human and animal bones. Moreover, the workshop delves into the intriguing realm of creating and analysing simulated blood spatters, DNA extraction methodologies, and more.
Guided by experts in education
The workshop's strength lies in its expert facilitation by a seasoned Gifted and Talented teacher with over a decade of experience in delivering such workshops, alongside dedicated experts from the Centre for Forensic Anthropology at the University of WA. This is a rare opportunity for students to engage in hands-on detective work like never before, fostering critical and creative thinking and collaboration with like-minded peers.
