Young Doctors: Heart & Lung - January School Holiday Workshop (Ages 8-12)

Have you ever wondered how we breathe or where all our blood goes?
What do our heart and lungs look and feel like—inside and out? In this workshop, you'll measure your own heart rate, create a model lung to take home, and gain a deeper understanding of how these vital organs function within our bodies.

But that’s just the beginning!
Students will have the rare opportunity to dissect real organs, exploring the structure and function of the heart and lungs firsthand to develop their anatomical knowledge and foster critical and creative thinking. This hands-on experience provides a unique insight into the circulatory and respiratory systems, offering an unforgettable look at the wonders of the human body.

Part of the long-running and ever-popular Young Doctors series, this workshop promises an immersive and specialised experience like no other. Aspiring medical professionals will gain invaluable insights, while all participants will enjoy exploring a fascinating subject alongside like-minded peers.

Guided by experts in education and medicine
The workshop is facilitated by a Gifted and Talented education specialist with over a decade of experience teaching anatomical dissection, alongside a highly experienced Emergency Nurse who brings real-world medical insights and regularly trains doctors and nurses across Western Australia. Together, they provide a perfect balance of academic challenge and practical enrichment.

Maximum fun and exploration await… but not for the fainthearted!

Ages: 8 to 12 (recommended)

What to bring

• A4 folder (to store handouts), notepad, recess and lunch (nut free please), water bottle.
• A zest for problem solving and a thirst for a challenge!

Arrival & Pick up

• Children will need to be signed in and out of the workshop. Your child can be dropped off at 9:30 AM and be collected at 3 PM. 

Workshops are set at no more than 18 students with at least two expert facilitators.
