    Event description

    ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Young Entrepreneur Festival is an interactive one-day Festival that will develop the skills and mindset young people need to become entrepreneurs, innovators and small business owners.

The Festival is designed for primary school students (Grade 4 to 6) and secondary school students (Grade 7 to 12).

    ABOUT THE DAY

During The Young Entrepreneur Festival, students will learn about the world of entrepreneurship and innovation. Students will have the opportunity to start a business idea that they are passionate about and showcase this idea through an exhibition showcase afternoon. Key Activities:

    • Business 101. What is a business? What makes an entrepreneur? Why do entrepreneurs do what they do?
    • Ideation. What are some local and global problems? How can we use technology and innovation to solve them?
    • Marketing and Design. Developing posters and marketing collateral for their product or service.
    • Prototyping. Students will be given a variety of resources and materials to develop a physical or digital prototype of their business product or service.
    • Business Development. Writing a Business Pitch, business budgeting and financial literacy.
    • Soft Skills. How do you speak so people actually want to listen?
    • Showcase Afternoon. Students will showcase their business product or service in the form of an exhibition stand. Councillors, small business owners and the community will be invited to explore and walk through the exhibitions.
