Event description

YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE ARTS WHS ROUNDTABLE
Saturday 13 July 2024, 11am ACDT
Flinders University Adelaide City Campus, Level 3 One Festival Tower, Station Rd, Adelaide, Kaurna Yarta
Presented by the Arts Industry Council of South Australia

What is it?

The Arts Industry Council of South Australia (AICSA) is currently researching workplace health and safety in the SA arts sector.  While we conducted a survey, we did not receive many responses from young people.  This roundtable aims to address this gap, by gathering more information about your experiences as an artist and/or arts worker.  Therefore, this session is open to participants aged 18-24.

What to expect?

We will have a guided discussion around your work experiences, pay, superannuation, cultural safety and the impact that this has had on your mental health in a safe and supportive environment, hosted by AICSA Executive Committee Members Ruth Weldon and Caitlin Ellen Moore.

A light lunch will be provided.

The first 10 participants to register will receive a $50 gift card as an appreciation of your time.

What happens next?

We hope that the outcome of this research will be used to help provide better support to artists and arts workers.  Be sure to sign up to our mailing list or follow us on social media to see the results of this program.

About AICSA

AN INDEPENDENT VOICE FOR THE ARTS

The Arts Industry Council SA (AICSA) is a non-government not-for-profit acting as an independent voice for the arts in SA.  Run by a volunteer Executive Committee and part-time General Manager, AICSA acts on behalf of our members to advocate for a strong future for South Australian artists, arts workers and arts organisations.

As the state’s independent, sector-wide representative arts body, the Arts Industry Council of SA (AICSA) is extremely valuable to the South Australian arts sector. AICSA was constituted as an incorporated institution in 1991. The Council receives no operational funding from the government, and derives its support from the industry through member subscriptions, fundraising, sponsorship and in-kind donations.

Our members include over one hundred of the state’s arts and cultural organisations and independent artists. It is to our credit, the South Australian arts sector, that our collective commitment to maintaining our member subscriptions, allows this tradition to continue here today.
