Young Queerios Ballina - exhibition & celebration!
Event description
Queer Family are stoked to announce Term 3 dates for Young Queerios - Resourcing Our Youth... the Purple Edition!!
Term 3 dates:
4-6.30 Wed 14th August @Ballina Library
4-6:30 Wed 28th August @ Ballina Library - last day, feasting, celebration, exhibition & transport from Lismore available
What is happening?
We'll design and print some cool Queer resources and work towards celebrating special days throughout the year like Wear It Purple Day. Queer Family will supply materials and resources, but what we end up doing is ultimately up to the group. Examples include making stickers, badges, posters, brochures, cards, zines... using different mediums like photography, gelli plate printing, collage, ink, learning illustrator... and/or organising outings or creating events.
Or if you just want to hang out, that's ok too!
Who is this for?
Young Queerios is a safe space to connect, explore, be creative, have fun and make friends. If you're 12-24 years and identify as Queer, or you're still figuring it out, then Young Queerios is for you!
Gender diverse and Neurospicy folks will find their identities respected at Queer Family.
We can cater to most needs, just let us know if there's something we need to do to make the space more accessible and feel safer for you.
Food:
Snacks are provided - let us know if you have any allergies!
Transport:
We can offer lifts from Mullum/Ballina and nearby towns. Give us at least 24 hours notice please.
For those further afield we can provide fuel vouchers if needed.
For the final celebration event and exhibition, we are able to provide extra transport support from Lismore.
Thank you:
So much gratitude to the wonderful FRRR and NRCF for funding this valuable project, as well as the Richmond Tweed Regional Library for your ongoing support.
