Business and the Ocean: Why your actions matter

📅 Wednesday 1 July 2026 | NZ Maritime Museum, Tāmaki Makaurau

🕔 Exhibition 5pm | Panel 6–7pm | Networking and refreshments to 8pm

This event is presented by Live Ocean Foundation, Mindful Money, Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation, and the Climate Venture Capital Fund.

Aotearoa New Zealand's ocean feeds us, moves our exports, and shapes our identity as an island nation. It's also in serious decline, and the cost of doing nothing about that is becoming impossible to ignore.

We're bringing 100 business and sector leaders together at the NZ Maritime Museum for an honest, evidence-based conversation about what's really happening in the Hauraki Gulf our and ocean space, and what business can do about it.

The evening opens with private access to Ngā Huhua I Abundance, the acclaimed interactive exhibition offering a deep dive exploration of Auckland's world-famous blue backyard. It's a powerful scene-setter for the panel that follows.

There is clear evidence for action: for example, in our few marine protected areas, fish biomass has increased by up to 400%. There is a business opportunity for world leading innovation, smart action, and generosity from businesses - like yours.

Hear from:

Jono Ridler (Live Ocean) - what he's seen change in the big blue ocean, and what has to
Tash McGowan (Mindful Money) – the harm your money is quietly funding, and how to change it
Dr Rochelle Constantine (University of Auckland) - what's damaging our ocean's health and its life-supporting capacity
Rohan MacMahon (Climate Venture Capital Fund) - the business opportunity in ocean restoration
Enterprise leaders who’ve flipped the switch, with impactful results.

There’ll be a Q&A and a practical look at five actions you can take now to make a positive impact for a more resilient ocean, and future.

Join the panellists and your hosts for refreshments and networking to conclude the evening.

Free event. Donations toward hosting costs are welcome as a koha at registration
