Prepare to See Playford's Birds Like Never Before!

You don’t need to travel into the outback to see amazing native wildlife - it’s right outside your window!

Your Feathered Neighbours is an inspiring photographic exhibition celebrating the incredible bird life living right here in Playford.

"I focus on capturing the 'life and beauty' of our local avian species, aiming to inspire Playford citizens, particularly young citizens to 'look, savour and care for' the biodiversity in our city." Local citizen scientist and nature photographer Jan McKay.

The majority of these stunning, close-up portraits were captured right in Jan's own backyard! This exhibition proves just how much beauty is hiding in our everyday spaces when we take the time to look.

From the Artist:

I am an amateur nature photographer and enthusiast known for my work featuring Australian wildlife and in particular birds. I often share my works on my social media platforms, such as Instagram [flying_dinosaurs_nature_photography] and Facebook.

As a Citizen Scientist, I am a member of Birds SA, e-Bird Australia in conjunction with Birdlife Australia, and iNaturalist and see the provision of data as part of my responsibility.

In recent years, I have recorded local species in Playford, submitted data to citizen science organisations and provided my information and photographs to the City of Playford to assist in understanding what species are/are not currently using our bushland parks and spaces.
