Your Health, Your Voice: Breaking the Silence on Women’s Health
Description
"1 in 4 women suffer from heavy menstrual bleeding, often leading to exhaustion and anemia. Most 'just get on with it.' It’s time to stop. Join us for a hybrid seminar with world-leading gynecologist Dr. Talat Uppal to learn how to advocate for your health, access new treatments, and finally feel like yourself again."
What’s happening on the day:

🩸 Free On-Site Anaemia Screening:
From 4:00 PM
Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world, yet most women rarely get their iron levels checked.
Research shows that up to 1 in 3 active women are iron deficient, often without knowing it, and many are told their fatigue, brain fog, and reduced capacity to perform are simply “normal.” They’re not.
From 4:00 PM, in-person attendees at EZONE UWA will have the opportunity to receive a free, live anaemia screening conducted on-site. This is a simple, fast blood test that gives you an immediate snapshot of your iron status — the kind of routine health check that should be standard in every workplace, but rarely is.
🎙️ Meet the Speakers
Dr. Talat Uppal | The Clinical Pioneer
MBBS, FRANZCOG, DDU, FAAQHC, FACHSM Dr. Uppal is a senior Gynaecologist and the Director of Women’s Health Road. She is a recognized "Systems Innovator" who was awarded the RANZCOG Conspicuous Service Medal for her excellence in medical education.
The Expertise: She founded Australia's first Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB) Hub, a digitally enhanced clinic that fast-tracks diagnosis for women with heavy periods and iron deficiency.
The Innovation: A leader in Digital Health, she is a national ambassador for AI clinical tools (Heidi Health), using technology to ensure doctors spend more time looking at their patients and less time at their screens.
The Advocacy: She is the force behind "Bleed Better" and International Heavy Menstrual Bleeding Day, dedicated to ending the "suffering in silence" that 1 in 4 women experience.
Dr. Cory Dugan | Science-Driven. Mission-Led.
PhD in Nutrition & Exercise Physiology (UWA) Dr. Dugan is a leading researcher at The University of Western Australia and Monash University, specialising in how iron deficiency affects active women.
The Expertise: His PhD research at UWA focused specifically on the IRONWOMAN Trial, investigating how intravenous iron therapy impacts exercise performance, mood, and fatigue in reproductive-aged women.
The Impact: His work challenges the "medical dogma" that fatigue and heavy bleeding are just normal parts of being a woman. He is at the forefront of developing non-invasive screening tools to catch iron deficiency before it becomes debilitating.
The Mission: Bridging the gap between elite sports science and everyday women's health to ensure all women have the energy to perform in their daily lives.
🚨 Why This Is a "Must-Attend" Event
This isn't just another health talk; it’s a high-access clinical opportunity that you won't find anywhere else in Perth this year.
1. Move Beyond "Tiredness"
If you’ve ever been told your fatigue is "just stress" or "part of being a woman," this event will give you the scientific vocabulary to advocate for yourself. Dr. Dugan’s research proves that these symptoms are measurable and treatable.
2. Immediate Physical Value (The "Health Track")
Unlike a webinar, the in-person event at UWA offers tangible health resources:
Free On-Site Anaemia Screening: Know your numbers before you even sit down for the seminar.
The Mingle: Direct access to Supplement Mart, FitAid, and activewear specialists who understand the "active female" profile.
