Event description

A day workshop, exploring Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Asana, Pranayama & Ayurvedic wisdom. Held at the newly restored Summerhill Base overlooking the beautiful Tauranga Moana, soaked in nature and community. 

Our mission is to help you develop a self-practice right for you. Your yoga! 

The popular brands of Yoga are smothering ancient wisdom. In today's world, the word ‘Yoga’ is synonymous with handstands, intensity and sweat. Designed to attract a certain physique, age, stage and belief system, only reinforcing this idea of yoga being a performance and one of fancy poses. 

Beneath the masks, at the core, yoga is, union. A direct intimacy with body, breath and relationship. A direct participation in life itself. 

Throughout the day, we will learn ways in which we can modify yoga to the body, not the body to yoga.

Why yoga?

Yoga as a therapeutic practice. One to support us moving through the rapids of day to day life.

Although talk therapy has its place, it is often beneath the mind where an unravelling of our unconscious conditioning occurs. Stored in our tissues is our history, conditioning and holding patterns, influencing the way we think, behave and take action.

Through yoga we cultivate a bottom up approach. Meeting physical asanas and our breath to create more space and freedom within, in which our vessel can express itself.  

We recognise that life continues to happen moment to moment. Our intention is to provide a practice in which you can mould and shape into yours, to have with you at any moment. No longer relying on external, trusting it's always available to you.

No previous knowledge of Yoga, Ayruveda or Meditation required. This is a wonderful opportunity for beginners to resource themselves with something new or for those with more experience to integrate and embody their practice further into their world.

We have practiced through injuries, chronic illness, transitions and grief. We welcome all walks of life, no matter your current season.
