This workshop is specifically designed for people between 12 and 18 years old.

Bikes are fairly simple machines and you can do a lot of maintenance yourself if you’d like. Pedal Power’s bike maintenance courses will give you the skills you need to conduct repairs yourself, whether at home or when you’re out on a ride.

This bike basics course is perfect if you ride your bike either regularly or occasionally, but don’t want to get caught out with a mechanical failure!

This course will cover:

Overview of a bike, its parts and functions
Basic day-to-day care.

Pumping up tyres - how to determine their correct pressure
Cleaning and lubricating chain
Observing bike for wear

Preventing issues.
Listening to your bike and recognising the signs and symptoms of different issues
Cycling best practice as relevant to mechanical operation.
Basics of how to perform on-the-fly gear and brake quick adjustments.
Punctures and how to deal with them.

What to bring: your bike, some snacks, a readiness to learn!
