A: Youth Homelessness Matters Day (YHMD) is a national day that aims to raise awareness and public discussion about child and youth homelessness. It’s a day to start conversations about sustainable and innovative solutions to support the needs of young people experiencing homelessness. If you would like more information, please visit the YFoundations website.

A: Via our Humantix page.

Q: Where is the event being held? How do I get there?

A: The event is taking place at Salthouse Community Centre, which is located in Haig Park, Henty St, Braddon. If you live close by, we recommend walking, riding, or taking public transport. The closest tram stop is Ipima Street. If driving, we wish to advise that extra time should be allowed for parking, as Braddon can get quite busy. There are various carparks available in Haig Park, including one on Girrawheen St, across from the Madison Capital Executive Apartments. Another carpark is available on Girrahween St, where the Mandalay Bus is located. On street parking may also be available along Henty St. Alternative parking may also be found on Mort St, including on the side lane next to IQ Apartments and Midnight, and along Lonsdale Street.

We will also have special guests, including government representatives and a Welcome to Country performed by Auntie Violet Sheridan.

A: Yes, we will be providing refreshments, food platters, and a BBQ with vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Q: Will media be present at this event? Will there be photography?

A: We will be sending out a media release closer to the date, so there may be media present. We will also have a photographer. If you do not wish to be photographed, please let the photographer know at the event. We will also be providing round stickers for people to wear if they do not wish to be photographed.
