Youth Mental Health First Aid
Description
Join us for a practical, engaging and nationally accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) course facilitated by Australian Red Cross. This course is for young people aged 18 - 25 who want to build real skills to support their friends, peers and community.
Across two interactive days, you’ll learn how to recognise the signs of common mental health challenges, how to approach a friend who may be struggling, and how to provide safe, effective initial support until professional help is available. You’ll walk away with greater confidence, practical tools, and a solid understanding of how to assist young people who might be at risk of developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.
This course includes discussions, activities, and real‑life scenarios—creating a safe space to learn, ask questions and build your mental health knowledge. You’ll also explore self‑care and how to set healthy boundaries when supporting others.
It is great for young staff, those studying youth services, community work, related courses or for young people looking for practical ways to support their friends and peers.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Places are limited – Please register by COB Tuesday 22 September to secure your spot!
On successful completion of this course, participants will be issued with a digital PDF Certificate of Completion. Participants who complete the optional MHFA Australia online accreditation assessment will become Accredited Youth MHFAiders for three years.
