Youth Mental Health First Aid Course

Padua College is pleased to be able to offer parents and guardians the opportunity to undertake a Youth Mental Health First Aid course at its Mornington Campus during term three.

This course is designed for those who would like to learn more about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adolescents, how to recognise and respond to an emerging or worsening mental health problem, and the treatments and supports available.

Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, course participants will learn how to initiate a conversation with a young person they are concerned about, offer initial support and information, and how to guide them to seek professional help.

The course is comprised of four sessions over the following dates:

Monday 26 August, 5:00pm – 8:30pm

Wednesday 28 August, 5:00pm – 8:30pm

Monday 2 September, 5:00pm – 8:30pm

Wednesday 4 September, 5:00pm – 8:30pm

Topics such as anxiety, eating disorders, psychosis, substance abuse, and self-harm are covered in the coursework. Adults who complete the course become Mental Health First Aiders, equipped with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to provide someone with mental health information and support when it matters most.

This course is recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high-quality, and effective suicide prevention program.

A fee of $20 for course materials is payable on registration. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.
