Have you ever noticed an adolescent or young adult experiencing distress, and wanted to reach out more effectively?

Gain skills and confidence with a Youth MHFA Course

Australian Government health studies indicate that about 2 in 5 adolescents will meet criteria for some type of mental illness in any given year.

This 14-hour YMHFA Course teaches adults PRACTICAL and EVIDENCED BASED skills to provide Mental Health First Aid to adolescents.

Mental illnesses often start in adolescence or early adulthood and it is important to detect problems early to ensure the young person is properly treated and supported. The YMHFA course teaches adults who have frequent contact with adolescents, such as community responders, parents, guardians, school staff, sport coaches and youth workers, how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

We place a great deal of importance in schools and youth organisations to learn regular first aid, yet mental health problems are far more common among young people than physical health problems.

This training is as essential for community responder as it is for teachers, school staff, parents and youth workers.
