Youth Participation in Planning and Decision Making.
Target audience:
Organisations who want to develop their skills in involving young people in planning and decision making.
Overview:
This practical workshop is designed so that attendees come away with the tools they need to confidently do this work.
The topics covered include:
- Benefits of involving young people
- Unpacking the challenges and why we do it
- Identifying where opportunities exist or where we are already doing it
- Safe and effective consultation (including access and inclusion considerations, safety, informed consent, managing expectations, incentives and re-imbursement, feedback mechanisms)
- Exploring consultation tools and techniques that can be used in a variety of settings.
This 3.5 hour workshop includes opportunities for:
- Group discussions
- Application for what you have learnt to a practical problem in your organisation
- Hearing case studies (e.g. from facilitators and local services/organisations
- Engagement with a youth panel.
Afternoon Break
A short afternoon break with light refreshments will be offered at approximately 3pm, leading into the final part of the session - the Youth Panel.
