'YOUTH POWER: Disability Policy Forum' is the Youth Disability Advocacy Network's FREE policy event for 2025!

📍Where: The Hub, Bentley Technology Park

🧑‍🤝‍🧑Who: Young people with disability between 12-25 (NO experience or diagnosis required, we want ALL to feel welcome)

We know that young voices are missing from local and state-level decision-making. That’s why we’re bringing together Disabled young people to make a difference in the key areas of Employment, Education & Reform.

What is policy?

Policy is a set of rules or guidelines made by governments to help decide how things should work. It’s a roadmap for making decisions and solving problems that affect people’s lives—like school, jobs, or the housing. Think of it as the guidelines for how leaders try to make things better or keep things fair.

Why Should You Care?

Policies affect pretty much everything in your life, from the places you live and learn, to how you get medical care. If the policies are fair and inclusive, it means everyone gets a fair shot and feels valued. If not, some folks might get left out or treated unfairly.

What’s In It for You?

As a young person with disability and a part of our community, you have unique experiences and insights. By getting involved in shaping policies, you can make sure that your needs and the needs of your community are heard and addressed. It’s your chance to make real change and ensure that the rules work for everyone, not just a few.

Here's the deets:

Help co-design policies to tackle critical issues.
Hear from inspiring keynote speakers, join impactful breakout sessions led by experts, and engage in a lively panel discussion.
Empower yourself and advocate for Disabled rights—your voice will drive policy changes and make an impact on the future of disability reform

Event Format:

Break into three thematic groups based on your interests— Education, Employment or Reform.
Each group will have expert facilitators to guide discussions and policy drafting.

Education: Push for changes in how we learn, teacher training, and student support.
Employment: Improve training of businesses, hiring practices, and support in employment
Reform: ensure the voices of young people are heard in NDIS reform, foundational supports, and other reform
