TRAINING FOR THE SECTOR - Upper Great Southern (Katanning)
Youth Participation in Planning and Decision Making.
Target audience:
Organisations from across the Upper Great Southern who want to develop their skills in involving young people in planning and decision making.
Overview:
This practical workshop is designed so that attendees come away with the tools they need to confidently do this work.
The topics covered include:
- Benefits of involving young people
- Unpacking the challenges and why we do it
- Identifying where opportunities exist or where we are already doing it
- Safe and effective consultation (including access and inclusion considerations, safety, informed consent, managing expectations, incentives and re-imbursement, feedback mechanisms)
- Exploring consultation tools and techniques that can be used in a variety of settings.
This 2.5 hour workshop includes opportunities for:
- Group discussions
- Hearing case studies (e.g. from facilitators and local services/organisations)
- Engagement with a youth panel.
Following this face-to-face workshop, participants will have the opportunity to reconnect and dial into an online, one hour Teams workshop to:
- Support the application for what you learnt at the face-to-face workshop to a practical problem in your organisation
- Engage in discussions on how to plan and develop an action plan to help support next steps to working towards meaningful youth participation in planning and decision making.
