Youth Week: TOTE-ALLY YOU!
Description
Join a safe, creative, and inclusive space where queer youth can explore self expression through design.
This hands-on workshop is led by Australian fashion designer Gary Bigeni, known for his bold use of colour, creativity, and passion for helping people express themselves. Gary has worked with young people across Australia and believes there’s no right or wrong way to create.
In this workshop, you’ll design and make your own tote bag using a huge variety of fabrics, colours, and textures.
Cut things up, layer them, mix unexpected combinations, or keep it clean and simple. Your tote can be loud, quiet, messy, neat - whatever feels right to you.
No experience needed. Follow ideas, experiment, or just see what happens. Go at your own pace, take breaks, or simply watch until you’re ready. Everything you create is valid.
You’ll leave with a tote bag that’s completely your own a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects you.
This workshop is part of Youth Week 2026 and is for people ages 12 - 18 years (high school age) that identify as queer.
Photos and video may be taken during the event and shared across the library's and Council's communication channels (including but not limited to social media and eNewsletters). Please notify a staff member if you do not wish to be photographed or filmed.
