About the Trainers:

Katherine Mosele

Katherine Mosele has worked in the youth and education sector since 2002 including residential care, case management, outreach services, senior case manager, centre-based services, alternative learning settings and community development. As a graduate of the Bachelor of Youth Work from Edith Cowan University she has been a leader in the youth and education sector and believes strongly in raising the profile of Youth Work as a profession across government and non-government agencies.

For the past six years she has been based within mainstream education as a Youth Support Coordinator and was the founder of the Youth Workers in Schools Network. This network was designed to provide a platform for Youth Workers in the education sector to come together, reflect on ethical and accountable Youth work practice, share resources, network, and provide a collective voice for more broader advocacy. Katherine was awarded Professional Youth Worker Award in 2018 at the Youth Work WA awards.

Matthew Lanternier

Matt has been dedicated to the youth work and community sector for over 15 years, engaging successfully with young people from the South Metropolitan Corridor, East Kimberly, Gascoyne and Wheatbelt. He strongly believes that youth engagement is a collective venture and that it takes a community to support and nurture its young people. Matt was a finalist in the 2021 Youth Work WA Awards for his role as one of the founding members of the Youth Workers in Schools’ Network, championing and advocating best practice models for youth work in education. Currently working in a high school setting, Matt’s mission as a youth worker is to encourage community to develop and support an environment in which young people can grow to become positive, active, and responsible members of society.
