YOUTH GROUP #1: Ant Gallery + Banana Farm + Colour Trove
Event description
We are super excited to invite you all to the first instalment of Youth Group, a new event series brought to you by Gasoline Pony and Philter Brewing.
For our inaugural episode we’ve put together a wicked triple header showcasing some of the finest up and coming bands on the Sydney scene. They each posses an original sonic character and perform with bundles of energy– we can’t wait to see them all together in such an intimate environment! Without further ado, let’s get introduced:
Ant Gallery
Having played their first ever show on our humble stage we are stoked to get Ant Gallery back at the Gasoline Pony. Hot off an award winning performance at the National Folk festival and in the midst of a string of top-tier single releases, AntGal are teeming to bring their eclectic blend of 70s indebted sophisti-pop and contemporary folk rock back to where it all began. Fans of Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, and basically anything with four part harmony will be astounded at the deft with which they blend such lofty influences into a swathe of distinctive tunes, all brimming with personality.
Banana Farm
Highlighted by Triple J Unearthed and on the back of a smokin’ hot EP released earlier in the year, Banana Farm perform a charming brand of complex-yet-tuneful jazz inflected indie rock. Their sound is multifaceted; they are influenced by left-field pop à la Stereolab and Grizzly Bear, and share with such artists an uncanny knack for imbuing keen-eared melodic forms with off-kilter experimentalism. If you’re really lucky Grace might even hop behind the Bar and make you a cocktail or two!
Colour Trove
Presenting a cacophonous art rock sound that’s a few dashes of King Crimson, a drop of post-punk era Iggy and a whole bucketload of freaky synth worship, Colour Trove will be blasting our dB meter into the triple figures whilst blowing our collective socks off. These guys have already got a wicked reputation for their live shows– we can’t wait to try and squeeze them on to our tiny little stage and see what all the fuss is about.
Expect bangin’ tunes, raucous performances and a whole host of drink deals and specials to get it all going… we’ll see you in the mix!!!
