Yule Ceremony 2025
Event description
We stand at Winter Solstice at the time of the Great Pause. It is the moment of the longest dark, the end of that period, but not yet growing into light. The Earth leans furthest away from the Sun, waiting to turn.
‘We may celebrate the miracle of Existence, and Her eternal re-creation - beginning with our own small re-creations.’ – Glenys Livingston
Yule - we can experience true stillness, we stand at a transition gateway, the pause between one life and another; a time to consider what choices we will have to make before re-birth when the light comes.
We have been offered the use of a space in Eltham for our Sabbath Ritual! A delightful mud brick home with bush garden, meandering path, fire pit and dipping pool.
Nearby is a large labyrinth where we will commence the event, settling us into earth connection and peacefulness. Then we’ll move into the the house nearby.
This will be an afternoon, rather than evening event. This means a drive home in early evening, rather than late at night.
Ritual Plan:
12.50: Gather at St Margaret’s Church Labyrinth
1pm: Walk the Labyrinth together
2.00: Proceed to Sarah’s home at 75 John Street, Eltham, 5 minutes away.
2.00 to 2.45: Arrive, settle in, stand by the fire, have some afternoon tea.
2.45- 3.30: Motherpeace Tarot card reflection on the Labyrinth walking experience with Tricia Szirom and Sarah Houseman.
3.30 - 4.30: Solstice ritual, led by Jenny Cameron will include a chance to write a message about farewelling the dark, a chance to release that which no longer serves you and anticipating the future ahead. There will be a guided meditation. Sue Gee, writer of beautiful sabbat songs will sing her winter solstice song and other songs representative of this solstice time. Maybe there will be time for a goddess dance.
5-5.30pm: Social time, and prepare to farewell and to look forward to the next opportunity to get together in celebration of the seasons and their changes.
