Yom Hazikaron Commemoration 2023
Description
Please join us on Monday, April 24th, as we come together to commemorate Yom Hazikaron, Israel's Memorial Day, at the annual ZCNSW Yom Hazikaron Memorial Ceremony to honor the memory of the country's fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism.
This year, on the 75th anniversary of the War of Independence and 50 years since the Yom Kippur War, the day holds particular significance. These two wars were defining moments in Israeli history, shaping the country's identity and resilience. The War of Independence was a struggle for survival, as the nascent state fought for its right to exist against overwhelming odds. The Yom Kippur War, meanwhile, was a reminder of the ongoing challenges that Israel faces in a hostile region, as it faced a surprise attack from its neighbors.
We hope you will be able to join us.
The Tekes will be followed by a museum including songs and personal stories run by the Moriah Shlichim who are ex IDF soldiers.
Yom Hazikaron is hosted by the Zionist Council of NSW in partnership with JNF NSW & supported by ZDVO.
ZCNSW is supported by UIA NSW & ZFA.
