Event description

Learn to integrate zero-waste pattern-making & marker-making techniques into your current design and production processes to create less fabric waste. Whether you're a home sewist, industry professional, small brand or student you will learn valuable skills that can be applied in many genres of design.

This workshop normally costs $90 per person, so make sure you purchase your ticket now!

What to expect:

  1. Choose a design sketch that you would like to make OR a finished pattern, marker or lay plan that you would like to recreate with zero waste. You will save time by minimising your patterns, markers and lay plans at home to 10% size either by hand or by printing them off on a smaller scale. We can also minimise your pattern in class. We will have a selection of 10% %-sized sample patterns for you to work with if you don't have your own.
  2. We'll start with a visual introduction to the design processes of other zero-waste designers. this will give examples of techniques that we can explore in class.
  3. Working in pairs or as a designer/patternmaker alone create a zero or minimal waste marker for your chosen design/s

It will help to know the width measurement of your fabric.
