Operatic baritone, Ziggy Harris, is leaving Australia.

This recital will be his last hurrah, and it is deeply meaningful to Ziggy that he may showcase some of his favourite repertoire thus far to the community that has poured hours of belief, time and energy into him.

Accompanied by the orchestrally-minded and wonderful Dr. Robert Manley, the arias you will hear are essential snippets of the wider baritone repertoire.

This recital will be comprised of music by Bellini, Gounod, Monteverdi, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Verdi and Wagner.

Why is Ziggy leaving?

Having graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium Of Music with a Bachelor Of Music (Performance) in Classical Voice, achieving a Distinction average, Ziggy has been accepted, with several scholarships, into a Masters of Music (Operatic Performance / Thesis) at the Schulich School Of Music at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and will be moving there in late-August. His residency in Canada will last two years. Afterwards, he already has ideas for other international affairs.

Prior, Ziggy is returning to the heart of Thüringia, Deutschland, cast as the notorious title role of "Don Giovanni" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, having played Papageno in Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" within the Studio last year, which will run through July.

Ziggy will be departing Australia a few days after this recital.

With this recital, Ziggy wishes to show that the devotion to supporting his development by the community that raised him has driven him to pull this musical thread as far as his possibly can.

Ziggy is extremely proud to have been raised by the rich, musical and theatrical community of Armidale.

Deepest thanks the Uniting Church of Armidale for allowing this recital to happen within their beautiful venue.
