Event description

Fanzines or zines have long been an alternative publication media that used to share many things: it can be our passion for something, hobbies, art and music, people’s struggles, from socio-political issues to the personal things that we think are important to share with the others.

Zines are a self publication media where every expression and uniqueness can be appreciated. With the spirit of DIY, zines can be a catalyst for us to connect with the community and open up many good potentials that we have to empowering our self and surrounding.

In this Zine-Making workshop we will learn what zines are, the history and dynamics of zines to this day, and Gilang Propagila will bring some zines from Bali that you can see. After that we will make a compilation zines: Zines that we make together about topics around us.

We will provide equipment such as paper, stationery, scissors, paper glue, and some visual images that can be cut & paste (collaged) to fill/lay-out the pages in the zine. You can also bring your own equipment and materials.
