    Event description

For 9-16 year olds. Make your own book from a single A3 piece of paper!

    THE DETAILS

    Date & Time: Friday 27th September 2024, 10:00am to 11:30am (90 minutes)

Location: Bright Press, located in the Village section within Whiteman Park. Enter via Beechboro Rd or Drumpellier Dr (aka the old Lord St).

In this workshop we'll make the simplest type of zine (a self published magazine or pamphlet) with Marijke McDonald of Xerox Days, an A6 finished product with 8 pages made from one A3 sheet of paper. We will be experimenting with physically cutting and glueing text, icons, and images, as well as handwriting and illustrations to create unique zines.

Bring along your own words or images, or use the materials provided, to create a one-of-a-kind publication.

We will supply all the zine creating and collage materials, and a copy of the Xerox Days 'Make Your own Minizine" zine.

    About our facilitator:
Marijke McDonald is a Boorloo-based artist working in mixed-media and collage, creating pieces and zines that are bright, bold and (hopefully) a little bit funny. They also run Xerox Days Zine Market.

Xerox Days was founded in 2019 to promote self-publishing in Western Australia, particularly of comics, graphic arts and artist’s books. Initially founded by Natalie Blom, Xerox Days now attends fairs on behalf of artists both local and international to sell and promote their work.

NB: Minimum of 4 participants for the workshop to proceed. If there are not enough participants signed for the workshop, Bright Press will cancel the event, and all signed up participants will be notified at least 2 working days ahead.
