Dr. Dickman is a licensed clinical professional counselor and an award winning educator. During her 20+ years of civilian service she served on bases across the globe as well as at the Pentagon before coming to USAFA. Of note is her work in the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program where she focused on education, analysis, and prevention science. Her extensive experience allows her to serve at USAFA as faculty and lead in topics such as healthy relationships, emotional intelligence, positive psychology, prevention science, human sexuality, and leadership development. She focuses on developing character of “heart”, sometimes called “soft skills”, she calls them critical skills. Dr. Dickman is widely recognized and is frequently requested to present across the DoD and on a national scale. Her goal is to present the science of a topic in a manner that allows individuals to use it to change their lives.

Zonta session: Advocating downstream and upstream This interactive presentation explores how we can prevent sexual assault using the stream analogy of prevention science, drawn from the socioecological model. Stopping violence against women and girls requires work downstream (helping individuals in crisis), midstream (building safer communities and institutions), and upstream (changing cultural norms and policies). Through powerful examples and a clear call to action, the talk invites participants to see their role in turning the tide toward safety, dignity, and justice.

We will also have a debrief on Zonta District 12 Conference.

Dinner: Chicken Tajine (a traditional Moroccan dish of chicken pieces braised with (mild) spices), couscous with vegetables, and baklava for dessert.
