Event description

Teen & Adult 2 Part Workshop & Ramble: Absolute Beginners Photography & Photo Ramble

Just starting out in your photographic journey? Want to learn how to take great photos with your phone or camera or thinking of studying art/design or photography next year? This workshop will help you learn the fundamentals of photography and some tricks of the trade to take better photos.

We ran this workshop last year and have now added an additional element – The Photo Ramble. Take a stroll with Dean around Ōtorohanga Township and get hands on practical advice with feedback on your photography. This is an ideal complement to the beginner’s workshop to put some of your learnings into practice, it is also ideal for the intermediate photographer who just wants some ideas and feedback on their photo taking abilities.

Bring along your phone or camera and your tutor Dean McLeod AKA Mr Black (from Black Creative), will share his photography knowledge in a relaxed engaging manner. In the workshop portion there will be a presentation and hands on learning to gain better understanding of the basic settings and how to get the best out of you camera then you can take those skills out on the streets and put them into practice on the ramble.

Dean Mcleod is a creative, photographer and artist based in Kemureti (Cambridge) Waikato. He has run beginner photography classes for the last 15 years and is has a Contemporary Art Degree from Wintec.

Workshop runs Saturday 3rd May starting at the Ōtorohanga Museum, 15 Kakamutu Road, Ōtorohanga. You can choose to do either the workshop for $50 or the ramble for $35 or do both the workshop and the ramble for the special price of $70 (plus the booking fee from $1.35-$2.40 ) The workshop starts runs from 10-12pm with a quick break before the Ramble heads off at 12:30 until 2pm. You will need to bring your own camera or camera phone, paper and pen are encouraged for taking notes.
